I would have to say that I’ve had more than the average number of first days of high school. Technically, the first day of high school was ninth grade. But it didn’t feel like real high school until I went to boarding school in tenth grade. So with this past first day of high school on Tuesday, that makes three first days of high school. Except this time I’m not the student. This time I’m the student teacher.
I think the role of student teacher is going to awkward in any school setting. I mean, how much can you really teach the way that you want to when it’s not technically your classroom and when you have a five portion, multi-faceted set of state requirements you have to meet? But that’s okay.
You’ll probably find it ironic that other teachers can peg me as a student teacher based on the fact that when I’m lesson planning, I have my handy-dandy frameworks book on the desk next to me.
